Science Facts

Love science? Indeed for some students, it might have been a daunting experience learning science. Science is one subject that goes beyond the education received at schools or colleges. Science goes to some another level from the rocket science to even the minutest of biological science. For your surprise, there are several science facts that can amaze you completely.

If you wish to learn about some cool science facts, then here are some of them:

  • Water can Boil and Freeze at the Same Time: This is true. A point referred to as the “triple point”. At this point, there comes a moment when the overall pressure as well as temperature becomes right for all the 3 phases including gas, liquid, and solid state of a particular substance to coexist. This is explained in the concepts of thermodynamic equilibrium.
  • Lasers Get Trapped in a Waterfall: Could you believe this one? The trapping of laser light in a waterfall or a stream of water is a scientific process known as the “total internal reflection”. This procedure is also responsible for displaying the functioning of optic fiber cables towards the guidance of light rays.
  • An Egg Resembles a Jellyfish Underwater: When you crack an egg on land, it usually appears to be a big mess. However, when you do the same underwater some 18 meters (60 feet) below water level, the egg falls out like a jellyfish. This is because the pressure on the egg so deep underwater is almost 2.8 times more than the atmospheric pressure.
  • Swallowing of a Star by Black Hole is Visually Appealing: When a black hole swallows a star, it is a treat to the eyes. As the star gets sucked inside by the black hole, there occurs a huge burping out of plasma from it. This is equivalent to spanning of hundreds of light years. When the particular star gets ripped apart from the gravitational forces of the black hole, some part of the star’s remains falls back into the black hole. The rest of it’s ejected at high speeds.
  • Popping Knuckles is NOT Bad for You: You must have heard elders asking you not to pop your knuckles. However, it has been proved scientifically that after all, it is not so bad for your health. As per a recent research, an individual had been popping knuckles for 60 years, while another individual had never popped his knuckles. However, there was no difference in the structure of the joints between these two individuals.
